Goo Hye Sun talks about the highs and lows in her career and recalls her painful experience with her friends.

The actress turned director appeared as a guest on her YouTube channel, where she dishes on how her past played a significant role in her life.

 She began her career as part of the sitcom "Nonstop 5" back in 2004 and was also a co-host in SBS' music show "Inkigayo" from 2006 to 2007 alongside Super Junior's Heechul.

 Interestingly, it was her appearance in the K-drama "Pure in Heart" that gained the public's attention, followed by the historical series "The King and I" and "Strongest Chil Woo."

However, Goo Hye Sun reached the peak of her career after landing the lead role in "Boys Over Flowers" with Lee Min Ho, Kim Bum and more.

Since then, her career has skyrocketed, making star in back-to-back projects.

During the interview, Goo Hye Sun shared the downsides of fame and fortune.

Goo Hye Sun Reveals Being Used by Her Friends for Money

As obtained by a media outlet, she revealed that her friends would use her for her money, and since she made her debut young and started earning money at a young age, people would borrow money from her.

"The reason why I say that is because I earned a lot of money at the age when everybody was still trying to," she said, adding that Goo Hye Sun "couldn't refuse" lending people her hard-earned money.

It came to a point where she even paid for someone else's tuition fee and realized she was not getting paid back.

"I even paid for their college," she revealed, adding that she "was frequently asked to pay for their college."

This is where she gets frustrated since none of them paid her back.

"As that happened too often, I started to think to myself, 'Am I an ATM,'" she said.

As soon as reality hit her, she stopped lending them money.

"Thinking this way made me feel more comfortable," she added.

Despite having bad experiences with her friends, she once revealed that she is still living off her savings from the hit K-drama "Boys Over Flowers."

As obtained by a local media outlet, she briefly spoke about how she spent her earnings from the series.

"After filming Boys Over Flowers, I was able to do whatever I wanted for a really long time," she revealed, but says that she needs to "look for another project."

That is where we get the part in the 2011 series "The Musical," followed by "Take Care of Us, Captain" and another smash hit K-drama, "Angel Eyes."

Now, although Goo Hye Sun is not active on screen, she is busy directing various projects, from short films to commercials.

She even won an award in 2022 after participating in the Short Shorts Film Festival.
