Lee Junho Wants to Create New Image With His Role in 'King the Land'

"King the Land" is fast approaching as it's slated to premiere this June. Lead actor Lee Junho also opened up about the K-drama and his character.

In the forthcoming Netflix series, which will occupy the weekend slots, Lee Junho embarks on a captivating journey as Gu Won.

He is the head of King Hotel, a character who despises laughter. The ordinarily reticent chaebol heir slowly changes after meeting Cheon Sa Rang, a hotelier from King Hotel with a drastically opposite personality and background from him.

What Attracted Lee Junho to Accept Role in 'King the Land'

Lee Junho explained why he decided to accept the role in "King the Land."

"With this being a rom-com, I had expectations to build a project that brings joy. I looked forward to the pleasure of collaborating with the diverting chemistry among the talented director, staff, and actors. I was eager to show laughter and flutters, elements that I believe the audience has been waiting for."

Gu Won is an almost-perfect third-generation chaebol, who adheres to a prickly and cynical attitude due to his past trauma. His complex personality attracted Lee Junho's attention and allowed him to constantly contemplate and prepare for his role.

2PM's Lee Junho Works Diligently to Portray Another Challenging Character

The 2PM member further shared how he maintains to build his emotions playing Gu Won's character.

"Even without speaking, I aimed to express Gu Won's cynical side and intimidation in every scene, emphasizing restrained emotions."

He went on:

"Meeting Cheong Sa Rang and shattering his wounds and traumas are scenes I hope will be key attractions of Gu Won. When talking about style as a third-generation chaebol, I wear three-piece suits, and prepared diligently to ensure his charisma and physical fitness, even behind the classy suits."

2PM's Junho concluded his message by inviting viewers to watch "King the Land" and anticipate the familiar yet fresh stories of the drama. He also advises the audience to pay attention to the slow-burn romance between Gu Won and Cheon Sa Rang.

"King the Land" will finally meet the viewers starting June 17 on Netflix and JTBC. New episodes will be released every Saturday and Sunday at 10:30 p.m. (KST).

The drama is expected to run until the first week of August.
