While media and fans can't get enough of the latest update in "Squid Game" season 2, speculations regarding the upcoming sequel begin to rise.

As Netflix teased viewers with hints and a cast lineup for the soon-to-be released sequel, foreign media outlets predicted a possible plot twist in the upcoming season.

Will Seong Gi Hoon's Daughter Return to 'Squid Game' Season 2?

As mentioned by a news portal, Screen Rant, a foreign entertainment outlet, speculated that Seong Gi Hoon, played by Lee Jung Jae, will re-enter the match because of her daughter, Seong Ga-Yeong.

Being the sole survivor and the winner of the recent match, it is safe to say that Gi Hoon will refuse to join the upcoming competition.

In addition, it's possible that one of his main goals is to destroy the organization behind Squid Game.

However, Screen Rant points out a possible plot in "Squid Game" season 2.

"There's always a way for dystopian organizations like this to force compliance, so perhaps Gi-hun's daughter will be used to bait him back into the game," the article  reads.

To recall, the host introduced Squid Game as a survival challenge, with the 456 debt ridden participants needing to survive the challenges in order to take home the whopping prize.

Unfortunately, it was only Seong Gi Hoon who survived the last round.

In the final episodes of "Squid Game" season 1, it was revealed that Oh Il Nam, who joined the game and played as No. 001, was the creator behind the brutal challenge.

On the other hand, Ga Yeong was Seong Gi Hoon's reason for joining the game. Since he and his wife have settled for divorce, Ga Yeong's mother wants her to live with her in a different country along with her stepfather. It means that Seong Gi Hoon won't be able to see his daughter.

'Squid Game' Season 2 Cast, Release Date

This June, Netflix continues to drop hints about "Squid Game" season 2.

A media outlet revealed that the streaming giant is starting to roll out the schedule for the much awaited release.

The full script reading is scheduled for June 23, while production will start in July.

Following this, Netflix released a new teaser introducing the returning and new cast members.

Lee Jung Jae, Lee Byung Hun, and Wi Ha Joon will reprise their roles. The same goes for Gong Yoo, who is set to continue with his mysterious character.

On top of it, the "Squid Game" season 2 cast also includes Im Siwan, Kang Ha Neul, Park Sung Hoon, and Yang Dong Eun; however, their characters are yet to be announced.
