Before being regarded as one of the versatile stars of K-drama, the 39-year-old actor had his fair share of struggles, especially while at the acting academy.

During his appearance in tvN's "You Quiz on the Block," he spoke about his love for movies, which made him decide to join an acting academy."

Host Joo Jae Suk asked him regarding the challenges he experienced during his early years in the industry, and he said that he got "frustrated while learning acting."

Lee Joon Hyuk recalled being "scolded a lot for 2 years" by his acting teacher and going home crying because of it.

As obtained by a news outlet, the actor shared that "famous people" would get private classes to help them focus while he enrolled himself in group classes.

"There were people who took private classes early because they were overflowing with passion," he said.

At the time, he encountered the hardship of doing well in the academy, and despite being surrounded by senior actors, he would beat himself up and "get worked up," hoping that he would get praise from his acting teacher.

"When I looked back, I had a hard time under the pressure of 'I have to do really well here' since there were seniors Won Bin and Kang Dong Won," he said.

Won Bin is best known for his role in the KBS series "Autumn in My Heart," where he starred alongside Song Hye Kyo and Song Seung Heon. Meanwhile, Kang Dong Won had his breakthrough with the 2004 movie "Temptation of the Wolves," where he bagged the Best New Actor Award at the 24th Critics Choice Awards.

As for Lee Joon Hyuk, he is best known for his role in "City Hunter" and worked alongside Park Min Young and Lee Min Ho.

Lee Joon Hyuk Returns to K-Drama

After headlining "Dark Hole" in 2021, Lee Joon Hyuk is making a comeback to the small screen with an interesting K-drama.

He is set to play one of the main characters in the highly anticipated K-drama "Vigilante," which stars Nam Joo Hyuk and Yoo Ji Tae.

Lee Joon Hyuk will be taking on the role of Cho Kang Ok, the vice chairman of DK Group and the creator of Vigilante. He will join forces with police student Kim Ji Yong, played by Nam Joo Hyuk.

As of this writing, there's no official announcement regarding the release of Vigilante," but it's predicted that the K-drama will premiere sometime in the second half of 2023.

On the other hand, Lee Joon Hyuk made headlines after surprising viewers with his transformation in the movie "The Roundup: No Way Out" playing the villain role of Joo Sang Chul.
