'Heartbeat' Debuts on Top 10 OTT Global Chart
KBS' new fantasy-romance series "Heartbeat," starring 2PM's Taecyeon and Won Ji An, is gaining popularity outside South Korea.
In a report cited by a media outlet on July 7, the weekday K-drama is drawing keen attention as it proves the potential of making it big globally amid the fierce competition among ongoing series.
"Heartbeat" presents the story of Seon Woo Hyul, a half-human and half-vampire, who desperately wants to become a human to find his first love.
However, due to an unexpected event, he misses the chance to fulfill his dream. He eventually meets Joo In Hae, a cold-blooded lady who lacks humanity despite being fully human.
Viewers are also occupied by the drama's lead stars Ok Taecyeon and Won Ji An for their fresh and adorable chemistry.
Based on the report, while the fantasy series is being broadcasted on various OTT sites around the world, including Wavve and Amazon, "Heartbeat" successfully entered the Top 10 Global OTT Chart in five countries within two weeks of its release, attracting global viewers.

According to the Global OTT service ranking aggregation site, Flix Patrol, "Heartbeat" was included in the Top 10 overall in the Amazon Prime Video TV Category.
In addition, as of July 5, Ok Taecyeon's comeback K-drama ranked first in the Philippines, Taiwan, and Singapore, and has continued to top the list in Malaysia, since its debut.
'Heartbeat's' Ok Taecyeon & Won Ji An Achieve New Milestone
Meanwhile, in the data released by RACOI, the Korea Communications Commission's broadcast content value information analysis system, Won Ji An and Ok Taecyeon took first and second place in the overall ranking of drama cast members surveyed for five weeks from June 26 to July 2, 2023.
On top of that, the second lead cast members, Yoon So Hee and Park Kang Hyun ranked 11 and 8th, respectively.
This significant record doesn't show the drama's content power but also the cast members' popularity.
In the data released by Nielsen Korea, "Heartbeat" episode 3 recorded an average score of 3.3 percent.
Interestingly, the series broke its own record as episode 4 gained a viewership rating of 3.6 percent, marking a new achievement for the drama's team.
