It is revealed that Goo Kang Mo (Jin Seon Kyu) once inquired about a missing girl's case in the 1950s, the same case that the detectives discovered during their operation.

A Deadly Ritual

The teams are shocked upon hearing that the news writer who published about the nine-year-old girl's disappearance died by suicide and had the same burned wrist marks, creating a huge connection.

Yeom Hae Sang and Goo San Young also find out that the girl's death was a ritual. When the other reads the book about such rituals, she realizes that the page numbers are 21 and 176; the same number that the evil spirited revealed to them.

The rituals took place in Baekchagol Village where Goo San Young's mother grew up. Because of this, she immediately calls her mother and demands the truth.

Her mother asks her to leave the village but Goo San Young refuses to do so. As soon as she hangs up, she hears the village elders screaming.

Was Goo San Young Born Through A Ritual?

At the town hall, an elderly man faces his demise as evil spirits look at him. Yeom Hae Sang then warns the villagers to close their homes, letting them know about the wandering spirits.

Goo San Young realizes that she's surrounded by countless evil spirits which came from an old lady who burned down dolls so she could see her deceased daughter.

Yeom Hae Sang tries to protect Goo San Young who plans to escape the village. However, when she trips and falls down, she sees a mirror where she meets eye-to-eye with her dead father who's smiling brightly at her.
