Recalling her school years, Joo Hyun Young said she used to be active in church and would often play the piano.

"But the practice process wasn't fun," she revealed, adding, "So I was looking for something in which the process is fun too, and an art high school pamphlet came to my school."

Joo Hyun Young then recalled the time when the singer-actress influenced her to try acting school.

"I saw it, and Suzy was on the front page of it," she said, revealing that she immediately enrolled upon seeing the actress' photo.

However, with such a big decision as this, Joo Hyun Young said she didn't consult her father about going to acting school but was determined to do it.

Prior to her acting career, she confessed that she initially tried joining agencies to become an idol.

"I failed the first round of JYP open recruitment, at the time," she said, adding, "I wore red glasses and a school uniform and sang Seo Inyoung's 'Teach Me.'"

Interestingly, Joo Hyun Young revealed that what prompted her to become an idol was GDragon and her desire to meet her in person.
