"When I first received the script for 'My Dearest,' I only knew that Director Kim Sung Yong would be in charge of directing," he explained as obtained by a media outlet.

Interestingly, the veteran star said that he found the storyline "incredibly enjoyable" and, without a doubt, confirmed his appearance.

Since it has been a decade since he starred in a sageuk, Namgoong Min revealed the preparations he made for his role.

One of the things he paid attention to was delivering and understanding unfamiliar words and sentences that are not commonly used nowadays.

As for the things he is most proud of about the upcoming K-drama, it's the team's "attention to historical accuracy."

According to the actor, the production exerted "a lot of effort" to show details through the makeup and costumes.

"Moreover, since the story involves war, we worked closely with many people to present the action scenes with liveliness and realism," he said, and hoped that viewers would enjoy watching it.

"My Dearest" is Namgoong Min's return to historical K-drama, 10 years after "Hur Jun, the Original Story" in 2013.

'My Dereast' Cast, Release Date

As for his new K-drama, the 45-year-old top star plays as Lee Jang Hyun, who has no intentions of getting married, until he meets the noblewoman named Yoo Gil Chae, played by Ahn Eun Jin.

She is the total opposite of Lee Jang Hyun, who, despite experiencing two failed marriages, Yoo Gil Chae is still hopeful about her "the one."

Adding to the list of "My Dearest" cast members is Lee Hak Joo as the promising Confucian student at Sungkyunkwan, Nam Yeon Joon, while Lee Da In plays as his fiancee, Kyung Eun Ae.
