Kang Ki Young is ready to take on a new challenge as he plays an interesting character in the highly anticipated "The Uncanny Counter 2."

One of the most talked-about sequels this 2023, a mix of returning and new cast members joined the second season.

Interestingly, among the newcomers appearing in the upcoming "The Uncanny Counter 2" is Kang Ki Young, who made global fame through the hit K-drama "Extraordinary Attorney Woo."

Far from being the smart and diligent lawyer Jung Myung Seok in the ENA series, the 39-year-old actor will showcase a new side with a unique character.

Kang Ki Young Shares Thoughts on Playing the Villain Role for the First Time

Gracing Arena Homme Plus' August 2023 issue, Kang Ki Young showed off his boy next door vibe and oozing with unique charm.

Besides the shoot, he also spoke about the challenging role of playing the new villain in "The Uncanny Counter 2."

Taking on the character of top predator Pil Gwang, his supernatural abilities include absorbing the powers of the Counters.

During the interview, he teases fans about what to expect from his character.

"Usually, villains start with a little impact and then die fiercely, but in this drama, the villains go back and forth during episode 12," he said, delivering a bit of "The Uncanny Counter 2" spoilers.

Meanwhile, he expressed how he had fun playing the antagonist, especially with the tvN series since most of his scenes include special effects and stunts.

On the other hand, Kang Ki Young also admitted that it's not always a walk in the park for him.

Playing the viscous Pil Gwang, he described it as "painful, scary, and difficult," but at the same time, he also had moments where he could say to himself, "I have made a little of this my own," and saw how his "spectrum broadened" thanks to the character.

'The Uncanny Counter 2' Cast and Release Date

Kang Ki Young is one of the new cast members joining the much-awaited "The Uncanny Counter 2."

Along with him as the villains are "The Glory" actress Kim Hieora and Kim Hyun Wook from "Kill Heel."

In addition, viewers will get to see "All of Us Are Dead" star Yoo In Soo play the protagonist, this time as Na Jeok Bong.

Of course, "The Uncanny Counter 2" cast will not be complete without the original members Kim Sejeong, Yoo Joon Sang, Yeom Hye Ran, Ahn Suk Hwan, and  Jo Byeong Gyu, as demon hunters.

Slated to premiere on July 29, the upcoming sequel will have 12 episodes and will broadcast every Saturday and Sunday.
