Jo Yu Ri Gets Candid About Showbiz Career

On August 6, singer-actress Jo Yu Ri appeared in comedian Kim Dae Hee's newest vlog called "The Princess of Bu San Jo Yu Ri who came by Taxi."

Jo Yu Ri introduced herself as a solo artist who specializes in singing and acting. She was a member of the legendary girl group IZ*ONE before she went solo.

Before she began her acting career, Jo Yu Ri released numerous OSTs for various dramas including "Monthly Magazine Home," "Do You Like Brahms?," "The Law Cafe" and "See You In My 19th Life."

She also released a special OST for "Work Now, Drink Later 2," where she made her official acting debut. Jo Yu Ri appeared as a rebellious student with a filthy mouth.

In the series, she exchanged curses with fellow singer-actress Jung Eunji which instantly went viral. A one-minute clip of their conversation garnered massive attention globally.

Jo Yu Ri received great response for her performance, and fans couldn't believe that it was her first ever acting project since her debut.

Jo Yu Ri Names 'Squid Game 2' As 'Miracle Project'

In the interview with Kim Dae Hee, Jo Yu Ri revealed that she had in-depth discussions with her company after she shared her plans to venture into acting.

"I tried to challenge myself with various auditions," Jo Yu Ri confessed. "I remember auditioning twice a week for a long time. I was determined."

Unfortunately, the singer-actress continued to fail all of her auditions, which sent her to the edge. Jo Yu Ri even thought of quitting, and just to focus on her singing career.

Thankfully, she received a thumbs up from one of her auditions. The only project that cast Jo Yu Ri was Netflix's original series "Squid Game," which is currently gearing up for Season 2.

Jo Yu Ri clarified, "I'm not exaggerating my story. It's true. That's why "Squid Game" is a huge miracle and opportunity for me."

During the announcement of the cast, Jo Yu Ri's fans can't wait for the actress' first ever major acting project. The singer-actress will work together for the first time with big stars Park Gyu Young, Won Ji An, Lee Byung Hun, Lee Jung Jae and more.

"Squid Game 2" is now in production and it is expected to be released in early 2024 so stay tuned for more updates.
