THIS ‘Anna’ Star Replaces Kim Hieora in Historical K-drama ‘JeongNyeon’

Jung Eun Chae is joining the upcoming K-drama "JeongNyeon" replacing Kim Hieora.

In an exclusive report cited by Star News, the actress is a recent addition to the cast lineup.

Jung Eun Chae Offiicially Joins 'JeongNyeon'

As mentioned by the news, Jung Eun Chae has confirmed her appearance and was part of the test shoot along with the other cast members. Her appearance in the webtoon-based K-drama comes after Kim Hieora officially stepped down for the role. 

Initially, "The Glory" villain was positively reviewing the offer. However, she decided not to continue and eventually turned down the offer "due to personal circumstances."

While drama officials have yet to confirm the character of Jung Eun Chae, she will be joining Kim Tae Ri, who will be playing the lead role of Yoon Jung Nyeon.

'JeongNyeon' Cast, What We Know So Far

Following Jung Eun Chae for the role, she will not only join Kim Tae Ri but also a roster of award-winning stars.

Adding to the list of "JeongNyeon" cast members is Shin Ye Eun, who gained popularity after playing the young Lim Ji Yeon in "The Glory."

Moreover, Kim Yoon Hee and veteran stars Moon So Ri and Ra Mi Ran will also be part of the cast lineup.

Directed by Jung Ji In of "The Red Sleeve," "JeongNyeon" is based on the popular webtoon of the same name that depicts the story of a Mokpo girl named Yoon Jeong Nyeon. Born in the 1950s, she is eager to be part of the women's theater troupe in hopes of becoming rich.

Despite growing up in a challenging situation and without education, Yoon Jeong Nyeon is a very talented singer.

Dramas Featuring Jung Eun Chae

After debuting in 2008 in MBC's romance series "Woman of Matchless Beauty, Park Jung Kum" played a cameo role, Jung Eun Chae slowly made a name for herself after headlining notable K-dramas.

Among them is the hit K-drama "The King: Eternal Monarch," which stars Lee Min Ho and Kim Go Eun. Jung Eun Chae took on the role of Prime Minister Gu Seo Ryeong, one of the main characters.

It was followed by cameo roles in "L.U.C.A.: The Beginning" and eventually became a part of the blockbuster series "Panchinko" with Lee Min Ho.

Interestingly, she returned to the small screen with an interesting role. Jung Eun Chae played the villain in "Anna" along with Bae Suzy. 

Playing the rich girl Lee Hyun Joo, she earned a nomination as Best Supporting Actress at the Baeksang Arts Awards 2023, together with Kim Shin Rok, Yeom Hye Ran, Lee El but lost to Lim Ji Yeon, who took home the title.
