BLACKPINK Jisoo might make her long anticipated acting comeback this year with a zombie apocalyptic drama. The idol-actress debuted in 2021 with the black comedy series "Snowdrop," which was well-received by the public. Here's what we know so far.

BLACKPINK Jisoo Cast To Headline 'Influenza'

On August 31, media outlets reported that BLACKPINK Jisoo will be starring in the new zombie series "Influenza" with Park Jung Min.

Set on the apocalyptic Seoul, "Influenza" follows the story of the air defense unit and the lives of a couple who is on the verge of breaking up amidst the attack of zombies.

Jisoo's agency, YG Entertainment, confirmed the reports. According to them, the idol-actress is currently reviewing the offer. Meanwhile, SEM Company that represents Park Jung Min also responded with a similar statement.

If the two confirm their participation in the show, Jisoo will take on the role of Young Joo. A newcomer to the workforce whose boyfriend is in the military.

When she receives a break up notice amidst a zombie outbreak, she becomes stronger as she fends for herself in the attack.

Park Jung Min takes on Jae Yoon, Young Joo's boyfriend who enlisted in the military. Due to his anxiety about the future, he breaks up with his girlfriend.

Although he was once weak-willed, he gradually becomes one of the core players and the leader of a squad that fights off against zombies.

"Influenza" is a project collaboration between "Parasite" writer Han Ji Won and "Time To Hunt" director Yoon Sung Hyun. With this, attention is given not only to the cast but also the production crew.

BLACKPINK Jisoo Criticized Amidst Acting Comeback News

The news about BLACKPINK Jisoo's return to acting has gone viral, eliciting mixed reactions from the public.

Many BLINKs, the actress' fans, and avid viewers took to social media their excitement for the idol-actress' possible return to the small screen.

However, a lot of spectators also shared their brutal opinions regarding the artist. The new Coupang Play series will potentially mark Jisoo's first comeback after her debut in 2021.

Because of this, many believe that the acting idol's qualifications don't "meet the standards" for the new project. One fan commented, saying, "I'm so surprised since she's so bad at acting. I guess she's going to continue her acting career."

Some are hopeful about the collaboration, urging the idol-actress to practice a lot to avoid being the center of massive criticism.

While the comments are honestly harsh, the polarized opinions would help the idol-actress on how she would approach the apocalyptic series if ever she accepts the project.
