Rowoon Becomes Center of Attention With His New Role in 'Destined With You'

JTBC's fantasy-romance drama "Destined With You" is just in its second week, but it immediately garners attention for its compelling and fresh storyline. Adding to its charm is K-heartthrob Rowoon, who is leading the series alongside Jo Bo Ah. 

With only four episodes released, many are enjoying the actor's character in the show. Rowoon plays Jang Shin Yu, a cursed lawyer suffering from disease. 

His life begins to change when he meets Lee Hong Jo, a righteous civil servant and the owner of the wooden box, where the book of spells is hidden. Through this book, Hong Jo is the only person who can cure Shin Yu's curse.

However, as the two navigate their journey of learning more about the book full of spells, Jang Shin Yu unexpectedly falls under Lee Hong Jo's love spell, after he accidentally drinks the love potion which is supposed to be for Kwon Jae Kyung (Ha Joon). 

Due to this, Jang Shin Yu is experiencing sudden shifts of feelings and adrenaline every time he sees Hong Jo. 

Is Rowoon the Next Rom-Com King in K-Dramaland?

Rowoon, who is portraying the role, perfectly embodies Jang Shin Yu's emotions. His performance in the romantic-comedy genre is also receiving applause from the audience, dubbing him as the emerging 'Rom-Com King.'

"The King's Affection" actor doubles the fun of the play with his unique and captivating execution of Jang Shin Yu's character. 

Even though he already showcased his wide spectrum of acting in his previous romance genre dramas such as "Extraordinary You," "She Would Never Know," and "The King's Affection," the idol-actor continuous to solidify his position as one of the next rom-com king in K-dramaland. 

In particular, since Jang Shin Yu is under a love spell, he keeps on bothering Lee Hong Jo, and as he shifts from one emotion to another, Rowoon delivers good nuances and facets of expressions.

The heartthrob is also raising the level of immersion in the play with his striking visuals, and he exudes a masculine vibe while clad in dashing tuxedos. He even mentioned in the drama's press conference that he lost 8kg in preparation for his character, which showcased his dedication to the project.
