Time flies so fast for the avid "Arthdal Chronicles" fans as its second season, led by Lee Joon Gi and Shin Se Kyung, has now closed its first half of broadcast after three weeks.

'Arthdal Chronicles 2' Sees Slight Dip In Viewership Ratings

On September 24, the highly loved fantasy romance series "Arthdal Chronicles 2" finally dropped its latest episode to fans' delight.

Starring Lee Joon Gi and Shin Se Kyung, "Arthdal Chronicles 2" depicts the people's fates, whether they were born to protect or destroy the beautiful land of Arthdal.

During the first week of the drama, it successfully took the No. 1 spot on the list of most buzzworthy works in the weekend time slot, giving Season 1 a run for its money.

Lee Joon Gi, who plays the dual role of Eunseom and Saya, ranked at No. 8 as one of the hottest actors in prime time at the moment.

Unfortunately, a slight decline in ratings was seen after the fifth and sixth episodes were released simultaneously due to the Asian games.

"Arthdal Chronicles 2" episode 6 received an average score of 2.1% which is 1.3% lower than the previously recorded rating, making viewers raise their eyebrows.

Many spectators even criticized the production's subpar CGI (computer-generated imagery) despite the whopping 40 million USD production cost.

With the second half of the broadcast just around the corner, viewers expect to see "Arthdal Chronicles 2" surpass the 5% rating that was recorded during its second week of broadcast.

Lee Joon Gi Named As Historical Romance King

Since his debut as an actor, Lee Joon Gi curated a rather flawless filmography that is composed of countless sageuk K-dramas.

From 2005 to this day, the actor has appeared in various internationally acclaimed works like "The King and The Clown," "Scholar Who Walks the Night" and "Scarlet Heart Ryeo."

Lee Joon Gi also added "Arthdal Chronicles 2" to his collection, and even earned the name as the king of the historical fantasy romance genre.

"I love the intricate details, massive efforts and preparations put into a sageuk work," Lee Joon Gi told Allure Korea. "I naturally gravitate towards fantasy romance dramas."

While he starred in other modernized K-dramas, 80% of his work is fantasy. Lee Joon Gi also told Allure Korea that he will continue to thrive more as an actor, doing what he loves the most even after 10 years.
