Song Joong Ki Reveals Doing BBC Audition as Part of His Global Project

Song Joong Ki clarifies rumors regarding his audition for a BBC drama series back in December 2022.

Following the finale of his then-K-drama "Reborn Rich," rumors sparked that the actor is planning to work on various projects overseas, among this is a BBC series.

At the time, industry representatives cited that the South Korean top star had auditioned in the U.K. back in 2021. It was after he completed filming his K-drama "Vincenzo."

It can be recalled that Song Joong Ki's agency, HighZiumStudio, shut down rumors and clarified that the actor "did not audition for a BBC series." However, the top star "had a meeting with a representative" from the network.

Almost a year later, the "Arthdal Chronicles" star spills the tea regarding his audition.

Song Joong Ki Confirms Auditioning for BBC Series

In a report cited by a media outlet during the actor's interview with Ten Asia, Song Joong Ki revealed that he did an audition for the BBC.

"I participated in the BBC audition as part of a global project, and through that, my relationship with my wife Katie continued," he said.

As for the rumor that Song Joong Ki's wife helped him land a role, the South Korean top star said that Katy Louise Saunders introduced him to close friends who are "officials, producers, and actors working in the UK and the US."

Moreover, he also mentioned that he is willing to try out any role, "whether it is big or small, as long as it's interesting."

The actor then admitted that he struggled to land an offer and failed several auditions.

"Very sadly, I ran out of auditions, but I still have to audition for a few this year," he said, adding, "If it's a good work that I like like 'Hwaran,' I have a strong desire to take on the challenge regardless of its importance," referring to his upcoming movie, also known as "Hopeless."

It can be recalled that Song Joong Ki's agency also previously confirmed that he was open to acting outside Korea, but there were no confirmed projects yet at the time.

Just in time for Chuseok in Korea, Song Joong Ki made a comeback and was spotted at the airport without his wife; however, he managed to bring along with him their dog named Nala.

Following his return, the actor did a series of promotional activities for "Hopeless," along with director Kim Chang Hoon and co-stars Hong Xa Bin and BIBI.

Interestingly, after the movie made its debut at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, it will officially hit the big screen on October 11.
