As stars cement their names in the acting industry, some can be typecast in the long run for taking on similar roles.

While some Hallyu favorites continue playing the same roles in every K-drama, stars like Suzy are taking the leap in changing their images.

Here are three highly loved actors who change their images completely this 2023. Keep on reading.

Yoo Seung Ho

First on the list is Yoo Seung Ho who attracted great attention for his jaw-dropping transformation in his new thrill series "The Deal."

Known for his "flower boy" look, the actor wowed the public when he shaved his head as he played the role of a man who kidnapped a friend in exchange for money.

Unlike his previous works, Yoo Seung Ho had a rugged appearance which was completed by his smoking scenes. He also acted with violent language, leaving fans speechless.

"The Deal" was a commitment for the actor. Unbeknownst to many, filming the drama made him extremely nervous about its reception. Thankfully, the fans loved his performance.

Not only his hair but also his habit of smoking was sacrificed for the work, showcasing Yoo Seung Ho's intense dedication for his craft.

Bae Suzy

Next in line is Bae Suzy who recently returned with the romance drama "Doona!" with Yang Se Jong. The work follows the fateful meeting of an ordinary student and a former K-Pop star who cohabitate under one roof.

Unlike Suzy's previous dramas, "Doona!" made her bid goodbye to her "prim and proper" look, and gave herself a total transformation.

Through the Netflix series, Suzy learned to smoke cigarettes in order to explain her new acting role. The directors believed that the cigarettes were necessary for her character's growth.

While many were shocked, Suzy's avid fans received the transformation with a positive mind and even praised the idol-actress for bravely taking on the challenge.

Rowoon

Last but not the least is Rowoon who waved goodbye to his "pretty boy" characters. In "The Matchmakers," the actor sported a stoic and cold appearance.

In the series, he plays the role of Shim Jung Woo, a widow who works as a matchmaker that marries off the young Joseon maidens to wealthy, eligible bachelors in the nation.

Although he's only in his mid-20s, the actor is now playing a widow, which is massively different from his previous roles like a model student and a handsome bachelor, drawing public attention.

Rowoon admits that it was not an easy choice but he still enjoyed the process and change.
