Han Suk Kyu Selected to Play Korea's Top Profiler in New Drama

Han Suk Kyu might be taking on a challenging yet interesting character as he takes on his K-drama comeback.

In a report, the 56-year-old actor is selected to headline the upcoming psychological thriller K-drama "The Intimate Traitor."

Han Suk Kyu To Potentially Transform Into Korea's Top Profiler in 'The Intimate Traitor'

According to reports, Han Suk Kyu has been offered to play the role of Korea's top profiler and will be working alongside "The Red Sleeve" and "Hunted" director Song Yeon Hwa and screenwriter Han A Young, who won the 2021 MBC drama script contest.

However, as for the actor's agency, they confirmed that he received the offer to lead the upcoming MBC K-drama. However, as of this moment, nothing is official.

"We have to clarify that he is not confirming yet, and he is currently positively reviewing the proposal. Nothing has been decided yet."

Interestingly, other than Han Suk Kyu's K-drama comeback, the upcoming K-drama "The Intimate Traitor" will be his return to MBC after 30 years. His last series on the broadcast network was in 1994 for the drama "Seoul Moon."

With Han Suk Kyu returning to MBC, it was predicted that this psychological drama series would be a sure hit with viewers.

What to Expect in 'The Intimate Traitor'

With a promising team behind "The Intimate Traitor," the story's premise is about a criminal profiler who experiences a challenging phase in his life after he realizes his daughter's secret and its connection to murder crimes.

As mentioned by reports, the upcoming psychological crime K-drama has a production cost of 14 billion KRW, or approximately 10.8 million USD.

Moreover, drama officials plan to begin the filming process in March next year, with the target release date in the second half of 2024.

Han Suk Kyu is known as the industry's veteran star with an amazing acting spectrum. He is known for his characters in "The Berlin File," "My Paparotti," "Tree With Deep Roots," and most especially the medical K-drama "Dr. Romantic."

After the success of season 3, fans are looking forward to "Dr. Romantic" Season 4 since the last season ended with a cliffhanger.

As of this writing, there's no official confirmation yet from the drama officials, but Han Suk Kyu once spoke about his thoughts regarding the highly anticipated sequel.

According to him, he has been getting a lot of questions regarding the fourth installment.

"In fact, when season 1 ended, I didn't know I would write season 2. And I was only thinking about whether I could work on Season 3 when I finished Season 2. So now, I'm still thinking, 'Is Season 4 really possible? ' Still, I'm very grateful that you would still be waiting for us again."
