Held on December 29, the end-year ceremony of the SBS Drama Awards finally happened and a list of stars made their way to the red carpet and owned the stage to receive their awards. 

Among the winners of the trophies, what intrigued the netizens was the fact that Song Kang surpassed veteran actors Kim Moo Yeol and Park Hee Soon in receiving the Top Excellence Award in a miniseries rom-com drama category.

The heartthrob was nominated in the said category for his portrayal in the ongoing series "My Demon." After the award show, his win sparked controversy and people pointed out that the young star's performance was comparable to that of Park Hee Soon and Kim Moo Yeol in "Trolley," despite receiving compliments for his improved acting in his new drama.

Due to this, K-Netz shared their sentiments online saying that SBS favors Song Kang. 

"I think he should receive the Most Favorite Actor instead of the Top Excellence Award. His performance was not that excellent enough."

"Song Kang only has good visuals, his acting is still lacking."

Apart from this, Kim Yoo Jung was also dragged into the issue and received similar criticism from the audience. They commented that Do Do Hee, the actress' role in "My Demon" was not captivating enough compared to her previous drama characters.

What's Next for 'My Demon' and Its Stars

Despite the hate, the on-screen couple continue to promote their ongoing drama "My Demon." The series also achieved new records as it was one of the most-watched series in the Non-English Category on Netflix. 

It even recorded a 33.6 million view hour in just one week. 

In addition, the two also remained the Most Buzzworthy K-Stars for the third time according to Good Data Corporation, outranking other stars like Lee Se Young, Bae In Hyuk, and more. 

Song Kang and Kim Yoo Jung will finally meet the viewers again beginning January 5 and 6 on SBS and Netflix, after their one-week hiatus due to the year-end award shows. Many are anticipating the progress in their stories and characters. 

Their chemistry also never fails to entertain the audience and most of the viewers swoon at their undeniable connection on screen.
