As Lee Sun Kyun's agency warned against misinformation and false rumors, a broadcasting company took action after releasing a report about the late actor.

The 48-year-old star was found dead in a car parked in central Seoul on December 27. At the time, various reports said that the actor was found after Lee Sun Kyun's wife, Jeon Hye Jin, found what appeared to be a suicide note and reported it to the police.

TV Chosun Takes Down Report Regarding Lee Sun Kyun's Death

On the same day, TV Chosun released an exclusive report containing the "Parasite" star's last message.

The article, titled "Lee Sun-kyun To His Wife, 'This Is The Only Way,'" included parts of Lee Sun Kyun's letter to his family:

"I'm sorry, but the advertising and movie penalties are so large.

I think this is the only way."

The report also contained the actor's message regarding the penalty fees for the advertisements that get affected because of the controversy.

"Advertising and movie penalties amounted to 10 billion won," the report stated, suggesting that the actor was facing financial problems due to the penalties.

However, as mentioned by a news outlet, Lee Sun Kyun's last message that appeared in the report was different from the will that the actor left to his family.

The new report claimed that the penalty amounting to 10 billion won, or 7,620,122 USD, had no basis and was a groundless interpretation by the outlet.

Because of the warning released by Lee Sun Kyun's agency, TV Chosun deleted the article containing the late actor's will.

Lee Sun Kyun's Agency Announces Plans to Take Legal Action

After the "Pasta" star was laid to rest, his agency, HODU&U Entertainment, took legal action to stop the circulation of misinformation and false rumors surrounding Lee Sun Kyun.

In an official statement obtained by a news portal, the label said that they decided to take legal action and "will take firm action against all situations where false information is spread."

"We hoped that the truth would be revealed through a fair police investigation until the end, but since we can no longer do so, we would like to correct the facts one by one by ourselves."

In addition to this, the company mentioned that they've sued the reporter who released false information about the actor on the night of Lee Sun Kyun's death.

"We ask the reporter for a sincere apology and that they diligently participate in the legal proceedings that will follow."
