Im Siwan dished on his thoughts about the K-drama "Boyhood" and the possibilities of having a sequel. The lead actor also mentioned the controversy regarding his pronunciation, which sparked concern among the viewers.

Released in November 2023, the comedy-action series depicts the story of a loner high school student named Byung Tae, played by Im Siwan, who transferred from a different school. His only goal throughout high school is not to get bullied.

Byung Tae's fate changed after he became the most powerful kid in school because of one incident.

Joining Im Siwan as lead stars are Lee Si Woo, Kang Hye Won, and Lee Sun Bin, helmed by Lee Myung Woo of hit K-dramas "The Fiery Priest" and "Backstreet Rookie."

As the comedy-action show wrapped up the first season, Im Siwan talked about his desire to return for Season 2.

While doing comedy is quite new to him, Im Siwan said that he received a positive response for his performance in "Boyhood."

"Because I am a person who is a bit far from the usual fun and laughter... That is very encouraging and welcome to me," he said, as obtained by a news outlet.

Im Siwan also discussed his affection for the character Byeong Tae.

Depicted as the "Onyang loser" for his fragile body and nerdy looks, he made attempts to crack the code on how not to get bullied by his peers but was able to escape this after he was mistaken to be someone who is well known for his combat skills.

In the same interview, Im Siwan revealed the preparations he made for the role, especially with his dialect.

According to him, he included having a Chungcheong Province dialect to "effectively touch" the emotions contained in his character.

However, in the series, an incident sparked controversy after viewers showed concern about the way he pronounced his lines and were referring to the metaphors and ad libs he used.

"As I delved into it, metaphor turned out to be a significant part. I wanted to incorporate this metaphor as much as possible into the drama. Most of the ad-libs I thought of were almost all metaphorical."

Other than the story, the public also lauded Im Siwan's versatility in comedy.

According to the actor, he is also looking forward to having "Boyhood" Season 2 in the future. However, the lead star teased the director that he should release it soon.

"Director, if you delay too much, it won't be 'Girls' Generation' but 'Boy Generation.' If you wait until 'Old Age Generation,' that would be fine," he said as he delivered a special message to the director.

After "Boyhood," Im Siwan is set to return to the small screen as he joins the cast of "Squid Game" Season 2.

While viewers await the highly-anticipated season, drama officials are tight-lipped about the actor's role.
