Gong Hyo Jin’s Mother Recalls Reaction To Actress' Romance With Kevin Oh: ‘Are you out of your mind?’

Gong Hyo Jin's mother expressed her love for her son-in-law, Kevin Oh, in the most endearing way. 

Kim Ok Ran is the mother of the "When the Camellia Blooms" star and the chairman of the "Food Truck of Love" charity. 

Along with the actress, she and other guests, Netflix Asia Pacific content head Kim Min Young and "Queen of Tears" star Kim Soo Hyun, talked about their latest project and life, along with "Yoo Quiz on the Block" hosts Yoo Jae Suk and Jo Se Ho. 

Gong Hyo Jin's Mom Reveals Interesting Story About the Actress' Romance With Kevin Oh

Besides her two-decade non-profit organization, Kim Ok Ran was asked about her initial reaction after finding out about Gong Hyo Jin's romance with Kevin Oh. 

According to her, age gaps are not that big of a deal if you love the person. However, she admitted that she was kind of surprised after Gong Hyo Jin said that their age gap is "a little bit more" than 5 or 6 years.

"At first, I didn't know how much their age difference was," she tells the hosts, adding, "When Hyo Jin told me she was seeing someone, I said, 'Oh, really? Good for you.'"

However, Gong Hyo Jin revealed to her mother that the man was "a bit younger" than her, to which Kim Ok Ran replied, "A three- or four-year age difference is nothing," she said. 

Gong Hyo jin continued to build up the surprise after she mentioned that it is a little bit more than a 5 or 6 year age gap. 

"I was like, 'Are you out of your mind? '" Kim Ok Ran recalled, causing laughter inside the studio. 

On the other hand, Gong Hyo Jin's mother was thankful that she didn't interfere or oppose their relationship. 

"Now, I couldn't be happier with him as my son-in-law. He's just so sweet," she said, referring to Gong Hyo Jin's husband. 

Kim Ok Ran continues to express her love for Kevin Oh and is happy about her daughter's decision to marry him.

"I would have regretted it a lot if I had opposed their marriage because of their age difference." "My son-in-law is mature, caring, and sweet. He's more than I could've asked for."

Gong Hyo Jin married the singer-songwriter in October 2022 in New York City, United States. 

Besides their family and relatives, the ceremony was also attended by the actress' celebrity friends, including Jung Ryeo Won and Uhm Ji Won. 

Currently, Kevin Oh is serving in the military after enlisting in the army in December 2023. 

Gong Hyo Jin Returns With Team Up With Lee Min Ho

After 5 years since the award-winning K-drama "When the Camellia Blooms," Gong Hyo Jin is back on the small screen with an interesting K-drama, "When the Stars Gossip."

Portraying the role of Korean American astronaut Eve Kim, she meets OB-GYN doctor Kong Ryong, played by Lee Min Ho, during an expedition to outer space. 

"When the Stars Gossip" is expected to air sometime in 2024 via TVN.
