The news came at a time when bottom-ranked team Ssak3 UTD was about to reverse their losing streak.

Players had to undergo an early morning training in the rain at the command of coach Kim Nam-il, who personally bought new training uniforms to give them a morale boost.

But the positive mood was disrupted with the announcement of Kim Soo-gyeom's withdrawal.

The 2001-born actor, a rising star under Kim Soo-hyun's agency Gold Medalist, was considered a key member of the team.

His sudden exit left teammates and viewers stunned, as his energy had been central to Ssak3 UTD's spirit.

In order to complete the vacant position, the show confirmed the addition of model Lee Ho-yeon, who had already filled in as a substitute for teams FC Fantasy Star and FC Papa Claus.

His addition is likely to boost Ssak3 UTD as they gear up to confront the powerful Lion Hearts FC.

The problems did not cease there. Goalkeeper No Ji-hoon also had to vacate the team after he was injured in the previous game.

His substitute, model Lee Ji-han, has already been labelled the "David de Gea of modeling" for his agility and fashion sense, which heightens expectations on his game in the goal.

Fans had mixed reactions on social media, sending messages of solidarity to Kim Soo-gyeom while also asking how the reconfigured team will fare.

The departure of the young actor helps draw attention to the ambiguity of the competition, wherein physical and health setbacks are not less critical than the matches themselves.

Despite such mishaps, the dreams remain bright for Ssak3 UTD. With new signings and renewed will, the team will attempt to defy odds in their next match.

Fans can catch the episode of Let's Play Soccer 4 with these changes on Sunday, Aug. 24, at 7:10 p.m. KST on JTBC.
