Actress Son Ye-jin has closed her quirky secondary Instagram account, fueling rumors that the action is connected to continued controversy surrounding a "child actor neglect" issue.

As of the morning of August 27, trying to view the account, @yejinfoot_official, showed an error message: "Sorry, this page isn't available."

The account is no longer accessible, and her main Instagram now no longer follows anybody, a sign that it has been completely closed.

The second account, launched in June, became almost instantly popular for revealing unusual insights into Son's private life.

It included childcare updates, candid shots, and carefree posts, with the cheeky name "foot" as a play on her last name, "Son" (which means "hand").

The shutdown is at a tender moment for the actress. At the Aug. 19 press conference for No Other Choice, her co-star Lee Byung-hun made light of the situation, saying Son had disregarded Choi So-yul's questions as a child actress on set and left him to deal with them himself.

Even though the comment was made lightheartedly, clips posted online did not take long to go viral.

The cut-out pieces invited criticism, calling Son Ye-jin dismissive and cruel to the young actress.

The mother of the child soon explained the situation. Preceding her statement, she said that the incident had been misinterpreted.

"It was just a funny episode told lightheartedly," she clarified. "The fact is, she [Son Ye-jin] was very kind."

To this defense, the fans revived a December comment featuring a picture of Son presenting Choi So-yul with a much-coveted Christmas toy, which was seen as evidence of her generosity and kindness.

Even with these explanations, there are web critics who believe the timing of account deletion is not accidental.

They believe the choice might have been prompted by increasing public criticism. Others propose it was a personal decision to lower her visibility and prevent being misinterpreted.

There has not been an official explanation for the deletion. Son Ye-jin's agency has not made any public comments about the closure of the account.

For the moment, rumors persist as fans argue over whether the actress's move was connected to the scandal or merely a personal step back from social media.
