As per Koreaboo, this veteran actor was last seen on television 10 years ago, which coincided with the untimely deaths of his three kids. The interview has recently regained public attention after clips resurfaced online.

The actor, who debuted in 1993 as part of KBS's 15th class of public talent recruits, became known through numerous historical dramas, including "Tears of the Dragon", "Taejo Wang Geon", "Empress Myeongseong", "Rustic Period", "Yeon Gaesomun", and "Jeong Do Jeon".

During the broadcast, Kim spoke candidly about the emotional scars left by the deaths of his sons, who were 8, 6 and 3 years old at the time of the tragedy. He recalled the moment his wife left home with the children, saying she told him they were going out for fresh air. He reported them missing and contacted the police.

After a week, the police called to deliver the terrible news – his three sons had died. According to Kim, at that time, he felt nothing except panic and disbelief, stating that his inability to understand why it had happened led him to several years of being alone and suffering from various mental illnesses.

Speaking of his marriage, he mentioned that his wife was a good mom and loved all three of her children very much. He also stated that he spent most of the years his kids were growing up working and performing, which may have contributed to his wife's frustration and anger in those days.

According to the article published by AllKpop on February 10, 2026, Kim said that he asked many questions regarding why someone decided to commit such an act against his family, yet he received no answer to this day.

He requested visits with his former wife after the incident, hoping to understand her actions, but those requests were denied. The report noted that she was sentenced to 20 years in prison and is scheduled for release in 2033.

Kim said the anger he once felt has largely faded with time. Instead of dwelling on the feelings of hate, he focuses on surviving day by day and remembering his kids.

Moreover, the actor also talked about the fact that he sends letters to his kids in a journal every time he feels like missing them. While crying, he said that his faith makes him stronger and that is the reason why he lives on hoping to see them again in heaven.
