Actor Park Jung Min has opened up for the first time about his father being visually impaired, sharing the personal struggle during an emotional interview on YouTube.
A video, "Breaking News: Actor Park Jung Min Becomes Visually Impaired | I Miss You Show!" was posted on the YouTube channel of Oneshot Hansol on September 6.

Park, who is also the CEO of a publishing firm, encountered visually impaired YouTuber Oneshot Hansol within a totally dark room where neither could spot the other.
Discussing his reason for meeting, Park stated, "While creating books for the visually impaired, I thought it might be meaningful to have conversations about books too, but I hesitated, worrying it might be presumptuous. I promised myself I'd wait for a better opportunity, so I'm glad I could finally meet Hansol."
Throughout his conversation with Park, he shared a secret about his family for the very first time.
"It felt like a weight was lifted. I wanted to talk about this. Actually, my father is also visually impaired.
But he never once told me that the tactile paving on the ground was for people like him. I only found out what it was for last year.
I always wondered why it existed. Ignorant as it sounds, when you drag a suitcase, it rattles and feels inconvenient for non-disabled people. That was my perspective. I was ashamed," he explained.
The admission touched viewers as being both heart-wrenching and enlightening, noting the unspoken challenges that families usually go through without talking about them. Park's experience also touched many people who have loved ones with chronic illness or disability.
Park has already been involved with the visually impaired community, such as creating the audiobook First Summer, Wanju.
His new film Face is set to screen on September 11, 2025, further bringing attention to his rising career as well as activism.
The news was a rare and intimate moment for the actor, who is generally reserved about his personal life. Viewers and fans have since shown respect for his candor and vulnerability.
