SBS's new crime thriller 'Queen Mantis' is breaking with critics and audiences, and much of the attention is centered on the riveting chemistry between lead actors Go Hyun-jung and Jang Dong-yoon.
The show, which aired on September 5, has already crossed over 10% viewership rates in its first two episodes.
The drama is about the tense and complicated relationship between Jung Yi-shin, a serial killer who is played by Go Hyun-jung, and her estranged son Cha Soo-yeol, a detective who is played by Jang Dong-yoon.
The coupling has ignited a buzz online, with many fans praising the intensity of their performances and unusual chemistry.
"They play a mother and son, but their chemistry is so legendary, you forget it's fiction," one fan commented on social media.

Go Hyun-jung, in the editorial, is dressed in simple ensembles—jeans and T-shirt, or a sharp shirt and tie—executed with understated assurance.
Jang Dong-yoon returns the compliment, and collectively, their similar proportions convey a look of ease and familiarity.
The production team says the mood that has been captured in the pictorial is the result of the close collaboration established on the set.
The two actors performed scenes that required a great deal of emotional exhaustion every time they met in the drama," a representative explained.
"But they completed high-quality scenes through their consideration for each other, strong chemistry, and extraordinary affection for the drama and their characters."
The melodrama weaves together themes of family treachery, justice, and redemption against a setting of strained investigations and secrets buried deep.
Heavy as the subject matter is, the working relationship between Go and Jang has rendered the emotional scenes all the more credible.
