Actor Ryu Soo-young issued a public apology after a major typo was discovered in his bestseller cookbook, Ryu Soo-young's Lifetime Recipes, despite the book achieving considerable commercial success.

On September 24, Ryu posted a statement published by his publisher, Semicolon, on social media.
According to XportsNews, the announcement was about a mistake in the list of ingredients for one of the most sought-after recipes in the book: "Gochujang Butter Ribs."
The correction reduced the salt from "3 tablespoons" to "3 pinches"—a significant error that would significantly impact the dish's flavor.
The publisher stated in its apology: The above content has been corrected and reflected from the 18th printing," and appended, "We apologize for the inconvenience in reading and cooking."
Ryu Soo-young even handled the problem head-on. "We apologize for any inconvenience," he posted on his caption for the notice.
The cookbook, released in June, received widespread publicity and soon reached the top.
It topped Kyobo Bookstore's bestseller list at number 4 and Yes24's overall bestseller list at number 2 for the first week of July.
In a recent appearance as a guest on "KBS 2TV's Problem Children in the Rooftop Room," the presenters estimated Ryu's royalties for the book at around 100 million won—approximately $75,000 USD. The book had recorded 11 print runs within its first month alone.
The typo elicited a range of responses. While some fans commended Ryu for being forthcoming, others expressed concern about the potential culinary disasters that could result from the mistake.
One of the initial purchasers noted, "I'm glad they corrected it, but I wish they'd caught it before it went to print. That's a lot of salt!"
Ryu Soo-young and Semicolon have since vowed stricter editorial scrutiny to avoid such occurrences in future works.
