Dispatch reported Walt Disney Company Korea has confirmed the release plans. A representative said, "The drama '21st Century Prince's Wife' written by Yoo Ah-in and directed by Park Joon-hwa will be released on Disney+ in the first half of next year."

The series, also known as "The 21st Century Grand Prince's Wife," takes place in a fictional constitutional monarchy within a modern setting. The story follows a woman who is an affluent business executive and also a commoner, and a man who is the son of a king but lives without privilege and influence.

According to reporting from MSN, interest surged early due to the combined star power of the leads. IU recently received significant recognition for her performances. IU "won the Best Actress Award at the 4th Blue Dragon Series Awards for 'Fooled in Love.'"

Since his breakout role, the career momentum has been equally swift for Byun Woo-seok. He "instantly became a star actor with his role as Seon-jae in ''The Princess and the Matchmaker.'"

The new drama stars IU as Sung Hee-joo, a woman from an affluent family frustrated by societal constraints. She eventually enters into a contractual marriage to make do with her situation. Byun Woo-seok stars as Prince Ian, a prince who deliberately dampens his ambition due to his position as the second son.

The director of the drama is Park Joon-hwa, who, with his previous works like Hwanhon, has gained fame for his meticulous and emotional directing. The script is written by Yoo Ah-in, a recipient of an Excellence Award from the MBC Drama Contest.

"21st Century Prince's Wife" will be broadcast as MBC's Friday-Saturday drama and can also be viewed worldwide on Disney+.

With the anticipation continuing to surge, audiences are looking forward to the chemistry between IU and Byun Woo-seok, along with the drama's modern spin on royalty, romance, and identity.
