Actor Jang Hyun-sung is chosen to replace the narration role in the SBS documentary series "War on Gangs" as a result of Jo Jin-woong's retirement from the entertainment business. This is happening as the show is set to air the remaining episodes by the end of this month.

Industry sources for the broadcast media confirmed that this is in order to provide continuity for their viewing public as the expanded series is still airing. This documentary series explores the modern forms of organized crime. It has gained attention for its investigative journalism.
As reported by SBS on Dec. 12, Jang is set to narrate episodes three and four of "War on Gangs" on Dec. 14. Coverage reported on Naver that the production team expedited finding a new narrator after Jo left, with consistency in tone as one of the factors taken into consideration for the final series of episodes.
Narration changes occurred in the series before Jang's entry. Part two of the series, which had already gone on air, was re-dubbed with the voiceover artist from "Big Boss and the Dealers," while part one was redone with that of "Cocaine and the Pacific Cartel." This was in respect of the narrator who left with Jo.

"War on Gangs" explores the emergence of a new breed of organized crime perpetrators, commonly called "MZ gangsters," who are actually composed of individuals in their 20s and 30s. This special coverage documents the way these syndicates work on an international platform through advanced networking systems to widen their criminal activities. This extended edition of the special coverage aired on Nov. 30. It is divided into four episodes.
This series also reports on efforts of local and foreign investigative bodies such as prosecutors, police, customs services, National Intelligence Service, and the Coast Guard. According to reporting cited by isplus, the production of this series involved following these bodies for a considerable period of time to record their approaches in dealing with organized crime.
Jo Jin-woong made public statements about his retirement earlier this month. He issued a statement on Dec. 7, admitting his past mistakes and announcing that he is withdrawing from public life.
It was in this statement that Jo mentioned, "I apologize for disappointing you with my unfortunate past," and added, "As of today, I will cease all activities and put an end to my acting career,"
Now that Jang Hyun-sung has taken on narration duties, SBS is moving ahead with the rest of the episodes as originally planned, ending the four-episode series with no more adjustments.
