Park, who is well-known among K-drama fans for his supporting roles in many hit shows, talked about the incident on MBN's current affairs show. Koreaboo says he went on MBN's talk show to talk about his time starring in the 2010 drama "Bread, Love and Dreams," which is also known as King of Baking, Kim Tak Goo.

Park first talked about the drama's high ratings when he remembered how well it did. He said, "Bread, Love and Dreams surpassed 50% in viewership ratings," and that he was told he'd win an award at year's end.

He talked more about the nomination process at the time. "That year, there was really no other drama to give awards to. I was nominated and even received a call telling me to prepare."

But he said that a sudden rumor ruined those plans. Park Sang Myun said, "A tabloid newsletter suddenly started circulating." Then he went into extensive detail about what the rumor said. It said that "Actor P" was being looked into for using marijuana.

Even though no name was officially given, Park said that people quickly began to suspect him: "It claimed that 'Actor P' was under investigation for marijuana use. The drama mentioned in the rumor was similar to mine. They didn't even reveal a real name, but the broadcasting station acted as if I was about to be arrested."

News1 says that the actor said that the real name of "Actor P" came out one to two years later. He said that by then, the effects had already started to show.

He honestly thought about what happened after. "By then, it was too late. I couldn't appear in any projects for two years," he said.

Park talked about how he got through the tough time, even though it was hard. "At the time, it really hurt. Fortunately, though, I let things go quickly. Not thinking too deeply is my strength. I let it go in one ear and out the other. I kept meeting friends, laughing, talking, and hanging out. That's how I spent my time, and before I knew it, I'd forgotten about it."

Years later, Park made a triumphant return by winning the Excellence Award at the 2025 KBS Drama Awards for "Catch Your Luck." This achievement was a full-circle moment in his career.
