Nana, a singer and actress, has made an unexpected legal choice in the ongoing court case against a man who is accused of breaking into her home last year. The suspect, who is only known as A, is still on trial for robbery and assault, among other things.

The event took place in Acheon-dong, Guri City, Gyeonggi Province, at about 6 a.m. on November 15. Prosecutors say that A broke into Nana's house, threatened her and her mother with a weapon, and tried to get money from them.
After a fight, Nana and her mom were able to get him under control and call the police. Later, police found out that A had chosen the wealthy neighborhood because his financial situation was getting worse.
Koreaboo says that A later sued Nana back for attempted murder and other crimes. The police didn't look into those claims because they said they were self-defense.
Naver and its partner Star News said that Nana's lawyer sent a notice of non-appearance as a witness for A's robbery and assault trial to the Uijeongbu District Court Namyangju Branch on February 20.

At the first hearing on January 20, A was in custody and wore a prison uniform. He admitted to climbing a ladder to get into the house but denied that he meant to rob it. He said in court, "The balcony window was open, so I entered simply for theft," denying the robbery charge.
He also disagreed with other claims made in the indictment. He said, "Nana suddenly charged and stabbed me with a weapon."
A said during his testimony, "I was the one trying to stop things. Nana's mother told me to leave the house, and I begged her to stay calm. In that situation, I was not threatening but rather trying to calm things down, and when I was pushed, I left the house."
He also said, "It is not true that I strangled Nana's mother. Because I'm tall, I stood next to her and grabbed her shoulder, not her neck. It is also untrue that I fought with Nana after that. The standoff between me and Nana's mother had ended, but Nana suddenly rushed at me and stabbed my neck with a knife."
During the hearing, the judge said, , "Put yourself in the other's shoes. Can you just stay still if someone breaks into your house at dawn and behaves like that? You didn't try to just lie flat on the floor in that situation, right?" A replied, "That's correct."
The court also said that A is on trial for insurance fraud at the Incheon District Court's Bucheon branch.
