Madonna's Instagram photo of son Rocco Ritchie with alcohol has caused such a fiasco. The Queen of Pop was recently vacationing in the Swiss Alps with her children, and posted the picture of her 13-year-old son and his two friends on Saturday, holding bottles of liquor. "The party has just begun! Bring it! 2014" said the picture's caption.
The photo got more than 23,000 likes on Instagram, but also sparked a lot of criticism as the legal age in the United States is 21 years old, while the legal age in Switzerland, where the family was, is 16 years old. Comments ranged from criticism of Madonna's parenting to fans defending the controversial singer. One commenter brushed it off, saying, "I guess some people came into 2014 judging haha! They're just having fun... Doubt they were drunk lol."
Madonna disputed assumptions by following it up the next day with another one of Rocco and friend sans alcohol. She said, "No one was drinking we were just having fun! Calm down and get a sense of humor! Don't start the year off with judgement!"
Aside from Rocco, who is her second child with director Guy Ritchie, she was also with the rest of her brood of four plus friends on the Swiss trip. Her oldest daughter with actor and personal trainer Carlos Leon, 17-year-old Lourdes Leon, was there, as well as her adopted children, David and Mercy, who are both 8 years old.
The superstar has been posting pictures of the family's trip since before the New Year. She posted breathtaking views of the Swiss Alps; photos of the kids in ski suits, playing in the snow and hanging out with their friends; and photos of herself with the kids. She has since posted more photos after the controversial picture, proving that she isn't fazed by social media fiasco. The Queen of Pop is used to scandal after all.
