The French press started a rumour that is now being denied by Beyonce herself.

A spokesperson for the "Crazy in Love" singer has called the reports of the alleged affair by a French paparazzo "absurd", according to Metro.

Photographer Pascal Rostain sparked speculations about the president's romantic link with the singer on the Europe 1 radio station, stating: "There is something big that is happening."

Adding that Beyoncé and Obama were conducting a secret affair, he continued: "Indeed, it will come out tomorrow in the Washington Post. We cannot say that it is from the gutter press - a supposed liaison between President Barack Obama and Beyonce. I can assure you that the world will talk."

The Washington Post's spokesperson, Kris Coratti quickly denied the allegations, saying that the head of the state and the pop star has been good friend for years.

"It's kind of crazy how fast these rumours spread," she was quoted saying.

In 2012, Obama lauded his friendship with rapper Jay-z and and his wife, Beyoncé, saying: "I've gotten to know these guys over the first several years. They're good people. Beyoncé could not be sweeter to Michelle and the girls. So they're good friends. We talk about the same things I talk about with all my friends."

Being fans of the Beyonce's music, the President invited the "Single Ladies" star to perform at several events, including first lady Michelle's 50th birthday bash at the White House last January.

The rumours have been strengthened because there are reported tensions between the country's first couple. Beyonce's marriage to rapper Jay Z, 44, though is said to be solid as a rock.

Photographer Pascal Rostain came into popularity as he was the first to prove that France's head of state, Francois Hollande was cheating on his wife, Valerie Trierwelier, with Julie Gayet, an actress.

Mr Rostain elaborated on his claims why the Obama Beyonce affair is real: "For the first time, there are still images or televised ones of the Obama couple becoming a bit distant."

"One can legitimately pose questions. We were told the same thing by the pictures of Hollande and Trierweiler."

Mr Rostain's observations were featured in various media outlets in France, including Le Figaro and Le Point.
