Fantastic Four Reboot Welcomes ‘The Wire’ Star As Dr. Storm! Film Takes More Realistic And Scientific Approach?

The Fantastic Four reboot will be welcoming a new cast member as the new film is set to take a more realistic and scientific approach.

Reg E. Cathey, who plays Norman Wilson in the HBO series "The Wire", will be taking on the role of Dr. Franklin Storm, Johnny (the Human Torch) and Sue's (Invisible Woman) father.

In the comic book, Dr. Franklin Storm was both a multiple PHD scientist, and was also the head a child prodigy think tank. It was through this think tank where he mentored his daughter Sue to become a bioengineer.

While no further details were given about Cathey's role as Dr. Storm in Fantastic Four reboot, it is likely that it will also be the character's story line for the upcoming film.

Meanwhile, Fantastic Four reboot is shaping up to become a more in touch with reality as opposed to previous renditions to the film. Producer Simon Kinberg spoke to Collider.com about how they are looking towards a more "scientific" approach to the classic Marvel story.

"We're approaching it in a much more realistic, grounded, science rather than science-fiction way," said Kinberg. "The playfulness or goofiness of those other movies is very, very different from what we're trying to do, and that is true for the production design, the casting, the storytelling."

While Kinberg did not delve into any more specific details of the Fantastic Four reboot, he was confident enough about how production is currently taking place, and that they will be able to "make a cool Fantastic Four movie."

"I think everyone was on the same page about the approach to the story in terms of wanting it to feel like it had the tone that Josh was very clear about, which is real, grounded, dramatic," he added.

"How we executed that changed as everything changes when you're revising and rewriting a script, and I think in some ways I caught up to Josh's tone," he said. 

The Fantastic Four reboot film is scheduled for release on June 19, 2015, under Twentieth Century Fox.
