Five Fun Facts About Nam Sang Mi

Nam Sang Mi reunites with her "Time Between Wolf and Dog" co-star Lee Jun Ki in the new drama "The Joseon Gunman."

She will play a noblewoman who lived a sheltered life before meeting Lee Jun Ki's character. He's out on a mission of revenge and will involve her on the kind of adventures she never dreamt of.

Here are some facts you may not know about this beautiful actress:

1. She was discovered while she was working in a fast food restaurant near Hanyang University. Someone posted a picture of her online and this led to her discovery as an actress. She debuted in the 2003 MBC drama "Love Letter."

2. She's close friends with actress/director/artist and author Gu Hye Sun. When Gu Hye Sun branched out into directing, she wanted to work with her friend.

Gu cast Nam Sang Mi as the leading lady in her second feature film "The Peach Tree," a story about a father and daughter. Nam Sang Mi played the daughter.

After the filming finished Gu tweeted her appreciation.

"Thanks to Nam Sang Mi, who didn't show any fatigue and worked hard until the end."

3. Nam Sang Mi dated actor Lee Sang Yoon. The two met when they starred together in the 2012 drama "Life Is Beautiful." They dated for two years. When the relationship ended, Lee Sang Yoon surprised reporters by discussing the relationship during the press conference for the drama "My Daughter Seo Young."

"As time went on, I stopped paying attention to my girlfriend because I was so comfortable in our relationship," he told reporters.

4. Either Nam Sang Mi and Gu Hye Sun are really good friends or Nam Sang Mi is not the jealous type. Gu is now playing Lee Sang Yoon's love interest in "Angel Eyes" and the actresses still seem to be friends.

At one point it was rumored that actor Kim Ji Hoon was Gu Hye Sun's real-life boyfriend. Nam Sang Mi played his wife in the drama "Goddess of Marriage." If Kim Ji Hoon and Gu Hye Sun did really date, that's would make for an interesting twist of fate. But YG Entertainment denied that rumor.

5. In an interview with the Korean Film Organization Nam Sang Mi said that when she decided on a drama role, it was more about the possibility of identifying with a character than what type of drama it was. Whether it's a horror film or a saeguk, she must first be attracted to the character, even if the character is nothing like her in real life.

"I just meet my own character and live her life," said Nam.

"The Joseon Gunman" begins June 25.
