The emergency services of Police Scotland, Scottish Ambulance Service and Scottish Fire and Rescue, recovered the body of Cameron Lancaster after four hours in the water. According to his family, the death of Cameron is related his new take on the ice bucket challenge, which has been surrounding the social media recently. In the challenge, the participants are drenching in freezing water buckets for ALS charity. Although, Scottish officials still have to investigate the circumstances about the teen's death. Lancester was still 16, when he died.

According to Alice McGaryy, Local Councilor, there are speculations and rumors that this death is related to the ALS ice bucket challenge. Some teens have been at the quarry jumping off the cliffs. The cliff is a famous spot for jumping in and swimming among teenagers.

The Scottish police said, "Inquiries are under way to establish the full circumstances of what happened, and Police Scotland's thoughts are with the family."

The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge started as viral videos of the latest trend on the Internet. There are more than 1.3 million videos were uploaded and shared on Facebook from June 1 up to the present, and the challenge is trending more than 2.3 million times in Twitter since July 29 of the current year.

The goal of these viral videos was to increase consciousness about ALS. Celebrities and other famous personalities have participated in the challenge by donating money for this cause.

The ALS Ice bucket challenge began as a strategy to raise fund to research for motor neuron disease. Celebrities like Justin Timberlake, Victoria Beckham and even former President George W. Bush took part in the challenge, although some participants did not donate any money. The co-founder of the ALS ice bucket challenge, Corey Griffin drowned on August 16 due to a diving accident.
