American Idol Season 14: Judges 'Raised The Bar A Bit' For This Season! Harry Connick, Jr Busy Juggling ‘Idol,’ Singing And Acting

While promoting for 'Dolphin Tale 2,' Harry Connick, Jr talked a bit about what fans would expect for 'American Idol' season 14.

"I think Jen and Keith and I have raised the bar a little bit," he told the press while promoting his new movie which came out last Friday.

He and fellow judges, Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban, had hoped to see contestants improve drastically from their first auditions to the finals but their expectations fell a little short.

"We all realize that the people you see on the day of the audition are not going to change that much," he continued. "Even if you find this diamond in the rough, it's not like they're going to explode into this seasoned performer in six months."

He added, "So we're really looking for people who are fairly extraordinary on the first day, because what you see on that day is what you are going to see at the finale."

The award-winning entertainer is currently juggling judging for 'American Idol' season 14, singing and acting and he says he's enjoying it.

The Los Angeles Daily News reports that Connick actually likes going back and forth among his three jobs.

"Even with the very intense and frenetic pace of Idol, each gives me a chance to recover from the other two," he revealed to the Daily News.

He can't do it without help though.

"I sure couldn't do it myself," he said, expressing his thanks to the team that handles his schedule. "I just got back from New Orleans and Idol auditions there. We've been to two cities and have three more to go."

He also noted that some of the best auditions came from Kansas City, so far, according to Access Atlanta.

After promotions for 'Dolphin Tale 2,' Connick will be rejoining Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez on the judging panel for 'American Idol' season 14. Fox' long-running audition program will air in January 2015.
