Hardcore fans of Agent Kyle McLachlan's dark adventures in the Pacific Northwest town will once again see him when the series "Twin Peaks" on Showtime becomes a definite reality.

CNN reported that David Lynch and Mark Frost's unconventional mystery-drama series, which aired from 1990-1991 (IMDB), will make a comeback in 2016. News of "Twin Peaks" on Showtime broke when the network posted a video about it on YouTube.

Based on the "Twin Peaks" on Showtime press release, the TV series will be on a limited run comprised of nine episodes. Lyn and Frost team up once again, taking charge of writing and producing the series with Lynch at the director's helm throughout.

A delightful visual trip into the bizarre, the TV series follows the eerie adventures of FBI agent Dale Cooper (Kyle Mclachlan) as he investigates the strange case of Laura Palmer, a murdered teenager. His investigation was what brought him to Twin Peaks. An unusual character himself, his forays to uncover the truth plunged him into the strange world of the now-iconic strange town populated by strange personalities.

Huffingtonpost TV shared that the show would pick up where it left off. Thus, it will finally put an end to their solid following's long wait by revealing answers to the mystery. As of this writing, talks about Kyle McLachlan reprising his role as Agent Cooper are circulating on the Internet. However, the producers and creators have not shared any details regarding casting and other developments as of yet.

Accordingly, to refresh the memories of their viewers, Showtime is going to air the first two seasons of "Twin Peaks." They will do it prior to showing the new episodes (Huffingtonpost TV).

CNN added that the murder case was merely a starting point. What held the show's die-hard fans' attention ever since was the far more bizarre world, alive and seething beneath the cold region, and its equally unconventional characters - a cavorting dwarf, evil spirit called Bob, unexplained noises in a lumber mill and many more - that distinguished the small town of Twin Peaks.
