Sherlock Holmes 3 with Robert Downey Jr. Greenlighted, Production Underway! But Iron Man 4 Still In Limbo?

"Sherlock Holmes 3" with Robert Downey Jr. playing the title role already got the go signal, and as of this writing, the production process is currently on going. However, the same thing could not be said of "Iron Man 4."

E! reported that the "Avengers" actor is no longer as keen about pursuing his role as Tony Starks in "Iron Man 4." The actor confirmed the grennlighting of "Sherlock Holmes 3" with Robert Downey Jr. (himself) in the lead during the recent Reddit AMA where he promoted his latest flick "The Judge."

His exact response to his fans most pressing question about a possible ""Sherlock Holmes 3" with Robert Downey Jr. as leading star was:

"Yes, we have a Sherlock 3 in development. We want it to be the best of the series, so that's a pretty tall order." (E!)

However, he did not discuss, let alone elaborate anything, about "Iron Man 4."  

Based on what MSN shared, RDJ insinuated on his continuous portrayal of Tony Stark's character for Marvel films. By virtue of his contract, he took on the character's role in the upcoming "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and another Avengers flick.

With regards to continuing with "Iron Man 4," however, E! reported that the actor has admitted during his interview on the show of David Letterman that there are no plans for the movie. When David asked why, the actor replied that no script is available the flick. He then went on to say that, the studio has certain plans and that in time they would let the public know.

David raised the question again, as reported by E!, and this time RDJ gave him a direct answer: "No." And he followed up his response by revealing that he would be involved in many projects under Marvel, and with that, fans have a lot of exciting activities to look forward to.
