Cha Tae Hyun's upcoming movie has been receiving a lot of attention due to it being the first historical movie Cha Tae Hyun has ever acted in.

On July 9th at the Seoul Imperial Palace Hotel, a conference was held for the movie, "The Grand Heist." There, Cha Tae Hyun stated, "To be honest, I did not think that I could act in a historical drama. I thought that it wouldn't match me, and also I usually do not enjoy watching historical dramas so I worried a lot."

Cha Tae Hyun took on the role of a lazy government official that has no interest in his position and instead likes to read books. Although he was lazy and mischievous, he is also extremely intelligent. In the movie, this character plans to steal all of the ice of Seobinggo, which was extremely precious back in the day since there were no such things as refrigerators. Only extremely high-ranking people, such as the king, were allowed to eat it.

Cha Tae Hyun explained, "After putting on my make-up, others told me that I actually match the costume. So I looked at myself in the mirror and saw that I actually didn't look that awkward in it at all. If I looked awkward after putting on my make-up, I probably would have hated this role till the very end."

In addition, Cha Tae Hyun said, "I thought that having a beard would be awkward but after I put on my make-up, I realized that it would have been more awkward without the beard. It gave a lot of courage for me to take this role and I actually couldn't feel much difference between historical dramas and modern dramas."

In 'The Grand Heist,' the best con artists in ancient Korea come together to try to steal the ice, which is more precious than gold, from a high-ranking official. This movie is gathering a lot of attention being that it is Cha Tae Hyun's first historical movie and due to its action-packed plot filled with interesting characters. It is being released on the 9th of August.
