Music industry insiders have raised speculation surrounding an upcoming album from singer-turned-actress, Uhm Jung Hwa.

On January 2, several reports were published which indicated that the actress was in the process of signing a contract with Mystic Entertainment. Her possible change in management could be in preparation for her comeback release.

The 46-year-old artist is currently under the representation of Sim Entertainment, an agency which primarily represents talent in the acting industry. By contrast, Mystic Entertainment is responsible for the promotion of pan-Asian artists, Korean pop artists, actors, and is also involved in K-Drama production.

While she initially made her debut in 1992 as an actress, she experienced widespread success with her pop releases in the '90s, leading to a successful music career. Due to her musical accomplishments, she is often referred to as the Queen of Korean pop.

She has accumulated an extensive musical catalog which includes nine studio albums. Her last music release was the 2008 extended play album “D.I.S.C.O” which featured T.O.P (Choi Seung Hyun) of Big Bang.

"D.I.S.C.O" was created with assistance from YG Entertainment's Yang Hyun Suk. The album's connection with YG Entertainment was also reflected in the guest appearance by G-Dragon, who joined T.O.P on a special version of the title song called "D.I.S.C.O Part 2."

After the release of “D.I.S.C.O,” she concentrated her efforts on her acting career.

In 2014, she starred in the film “Venus Talk” and was also the star of the tvN romantic comedy, “A Witch's Romance.” “A Witch's Romance” was an adaptation of the 2009 Taiwanese drama “My Queen.”

She recently appeared in a special '90s episode of “Infinite Challenge” where she performed with Jinusean for the song “Tell Me.”
