Kim Soo Hyun has not starred in a Korean drama or film since the success of the fantasy romance “My Love From The Stars.” Since “My Love From The Stars,” he has engaged in various promotional activities and has been a sought after figure for endorsements throughout Asia. It has been a year since his last project and anticipation continues to build as he considers his next move.
On February 2, he was listed as one of the potential actors for the upcoming historical vampire drama, “Night Strolling Scholar.” His agency, Key East, experienced an increase in stock prices following reports which suggested that the actor may be cast in the leading role for the upcoming drama. The speculation surrounding his potential acceptance of the role was fueled by the fact that “Night Strolling Scholar” is being produced by K Contents, a company affiliated with Key East.
However, a representative from Key East provided a statement on February 3 which may serve to contradict news that he has accepted the leading role in “Night Strolling Scholar.”
According to the publications Hancinema and Newsen, this unnamed source stated, "There is nothing decided for Kim Soo Hyun's next project. He has been reviewing many scripts and contemplating carefully on his upcoming projects.” The source went on to explain that the fact is currently filming commercials while considering whether his next role will be in a film or Korean drama.
On February 4, stocks for Key East closed at $2.85 USD per share, after an increase which followed speculation regarding the actor's next project.
He is recognized as an actor with great market potential following the success of the 2013 film “Secretly Greatly” and the widespread appeal of “My Love From The Stars.” Since both projects, he has emerged as a major Hallyu star.
