You can now leave behind your worry of remembering and maintaining passwords for each websites as Yahoo introduced the new password-less encryption.

American multinational Internet corporation Yahoo Inc. (stylized Yahoo!) has released the source code for a plugin that will enable end-to-end encryption of email messages, a planned data-security improvement motivated by disclosures of United States National Security Agency snooping.

In the wake of almost all websites requiring users to log-in, in order to use their facilities, it is no secret that maintaining as well as remembering passwords for each website is quite a hassle. Despite the fact that logging-in via Twitter, Facebook etc. is possible from numerous platforms, they still run a high risk of security if password of even one account becomes known to an attacker.

CrazyEngineers.com noted that the internet giant has come up with a simple and basic way of getting around this problem of passwords. That said, this is not necessarily a secure way as well. Yahoo demonstrated new security and safety features for its email service at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas, ramping up attempts to boost privacy since the revelation about government surveillance in 2013.

According to SkyNews, the new security feature enables non-technical people to use encryption with the click of a button following an initial setup of a few minutes. A beta version of the encryption software is being released for developers, and it is slated to be released to users in the coming months.

Yahoo's chief information security officer, Alex Stamos said the company's goal is to have the feature available by the end of the year. Stamos further added that anybody who has the ability to write an email should have no issues using Yahoo's email encryption.

In order to counter unwanted meddling, privacy advocates say encryption is a valuable tool, however many users find the process complicated as it requires them to create complex codes or 'keys' for both the sender and receiver.

Yahoo has been teaming up with Google and its Gmail service on the encryption, keeping the standards compatible, Stamos added, so Yahoo and Gmail users will be able to send each other encrypted message simply with a single click. Personal and confidential emails sent to a family member or a lawyer needs encryption, Stamos added.

After a vast online surveillance programs led by the US National Security Agency was revealed online, online giants including Yahoo and Google took steps to encrypt internet traffic.

The email encryption feature encrypts the content on both ends of the message.
