On April 17, the Korean outlet enews published a report which analyzed the actresses and female celebrities who have been referred to as Korea's First Love. The article provided a detailed history of the term, which was first used to describe actress Im Ye Jin.

While it may seem like distant history, Im Ye Jin is the first major celebrity to be referred to as Korea's First Love. The 55-year-old star is now recognized her portrayal of cunning mothers and in-laws in dramas like "Marriage, Not Dating." However, she was considered to be a heartbreaking, girl-next-door during the height of her career in the 1970s. She made her acting debut in the film, "Transgression" before taking on the controversial role of a student who was in love with her teacher in "Graduating School Girls." The teen model-turned-actress then experienced an explosion in her career through roles in the popular "Really" film series.

Lee Mi Yeon is a 43-year-old actress who is best known for her roles as an intimidating young woman. Her debut role was in the 1988 KBS drama, "Joy of Love." She made a major impact with Korean audiences in director Kwak Ye Yong's 1991 melodrama, "Autumn Trip." In recent years, she was featured as a cast member on the tvN variety show, "Sisters Over Flowers."

Shim Eun Ha was highlighted as the First Love who will always been known for her portrayal as Da Seul in the 1993 basketball drama, "The Last Match." The retired actress experienced her last screen role in 2000 with the film, "Interview."

Jun Ji Hyun has recently recaptured the interest of audiences as Hallyu star, Cheon Song Yi in the 2014 hit, "My Love From The Star." The teen-model-turned actress has an extensive career which was launched by her starring role in the 2001 hit, "My Sassy Girl." "My Sassy Girl" was a pan-Asian success, leading to other major film roles in projects ranging from "Il Mare" to the heist move, "The Thieves." She is the First Love who is best known for her bubbly personality.

Son Ye Jin is beloved by Korean audiences for her unique combination of innocence and sex appeal. She debuted in the 2000 film, "Secret Tears" before drawing attention in the movies "Lover's Concerto" and "The Classic." She is best known by international K-Drama stars for her starring role in "Personal Taste," opposite Lee Min Ho and her appearance in the film, "The Pirates."

The report then focused on the most recent example of Korea's First Love, Suzy of the K-pop girl group, Miss A. She has drawn attention as the girlfriend of Lee Min Ho but she has a solid acting career, beyond their relationship. She followed the success of "Dream High" with roles in the 2012 supernatural drama, "Big" followed by the period series, "Gu Family Book." She also established her marketing potential as a film star, with the success of her 2012 film, "Architecture 101."
