2AM's Jo Kwon To Debut as Musical Actor With “Jesus Christ Superstar”

Jo Kwon leader of idol ballad group 2AM has decided to debut in a musical.

The singer and actor announced the good news via his personal Twitter account on March 10th and wrote, “I wil play the role of King Herod in the musical 'Jesus Christ Superstar'. I am the youngest person to play the role of King Herod, but I will try my best with my own style. Please expect a lot.”

“Jesus Christ Superstar” is an rock opera musical created by Andrew Lloyd Webber. The play is somewhat based in the Gospels' accounts of the last week oh Jesus Christ's life.

Jo Kwon will play the role of King Herad, the King of Galilee. Jesus Christ is brought to him for judgment.

A representative from Jo Kwon's side said, “He decided to appear in the musical from some time now, but since the rehearsals have not started yet, he didn't announced anything. He will show a new side of him, as musical actor.”

The musical will open its curtains on April 26th at the Charlotte Theater in Jamsil, in Seoul.

In related news, the actor was also cast in KBS's new Mon-Tues drama "The Dignity of Dispatch."
