Actresses Gong Hyo Jin and Song Ji Hyo are the stars of two of the hottest K-Dramas in 2015. Gong leads the cast of the KBS weekend docu-drama, "Producer." The ratings for "Producer" continue to climb, thanks to the chemistry of its main cast members.
The 35-year-old actress portrays Tak Ye Jin, a veteran "Music Bank" producer, who has an unrequited crush on Ra Joon Mo (Cha Tae Hyun). Audiences have been drawn in by her romantic story, which has morphed into a love triangle involving Baek Seung Chan (Kim Soo Hyun).
As a hardened working woman, her role on "Producer" is a departure from many of the previous characters portrayed by Gong Hyo Jin. In 1999, she transitioned from modeling to pursue an acting career through a role in the critically acclaimed horror film, "Memento Mori." However, she experienced breakout success through comedic characters including her portrayal of Yang Mi Sook, a sheltered Russian teacher, in "Crush and Blush."
While she has been extremely successful as a film star, she continues to appeal to the hearts of K-Drama fans through series such as "Pasta," "The Greatest Love," "Master's Sun," and "It's Okay, That's Love."
Song Ji Hyo continues to transition from the success of the variety show, "Running Man," embracing challenging acting roles. Her portrayal of Kim Soo Jin in the tvN weekend romantic comedy, "Ex-Girlfriend Club," has demonstrated the full capacity of her emotional range. Viewers have become captivated by her ability to segue from slapstick comedy to heartwrenching breakup scenes.
Song also successfully transitioned into acting from a modeling career. In 2002, she delivered cameo appearances on the series, "Age of Innocence." Her film debut was delivered through the 2003 horror flick "Wishing Stairs." Her breakout K-Drama role came through her portrayal of a ballerina in the 2006 series, "Princess Hours." However, many international fans recognize her for her on-going role in "Running Man."
In 2014, she delivered one of her strongest Korean drama acting performances in the tvN medical series, "Emergency Couple." "Emergency Couple" provided insight into her potential as a leading lady. Song currently captivates audiences through her chemistry with Byun Yo Han in "Ex-Girlfriend Club."
