'PlanetSide 2' PS4 Release Date Announced! Free Massive Shooter All Set To Hit PSN Later This Month

Daybreak Game Company has revealed the release date for the PlayStation version of "PlanetSide 2," months after beta testing the popular shooter.

First-person shooter, "PlanetSide 2" is finally set to make its console debut. Andy Sites, director of development, announced the news on PlayStation Blog Wednesday, June 3.

The announcement comes less than six months after Daybreak launched the game's closed beta.

For those not familiar with the game, "PlanetSide 2" is massively-multiplayer shooter from Daybreak Game Company, and it was released on Nov., 20, 2012. The game is a remake of an incredibly popular shooter PlanetSide.

PlanetSide 2 is currently available for PC.

In the game, players are divided into three armies, each with their own brute force and vulnerability, tangled in a never-ending war for control of fortifications on four continents.

Daybreak is now ready to make the game that holds a Guinness world record for the single-largest number of players participating in an FPS batter, available to the PS4 community.

Sites noted on the PlayStation Blog that "PlanetSide 2" will debut on PS4 on June 23 in Europe and America.

Moreover, the game will be free-to-play with monetary support coming through premium content. The PS4 version of the game will feature all of the same weaponry, vehicles and landmasses from its PC edition.

Koltyr, a new map will be only available on PS4 for the time being, iDigitalTimes noted.

Sites also included a couple of new "PlanetSide 2" screenshot in his post, hinting that the PS4 version will look identical to its PC predecessor.

Regretfully, the announcement didn't come with a PlanetSide 2 trailer but it will be just a few weeks before fans can get their hands on the popular shooter game.
