Comparing The 'Producer' Reality Show To '1 Night, 2 Days?"
If you've been watching "Producer" you may have forgotten that "1 Night, 2 Days" is more than a fictional backdrop for a k-drama love square. It's also a real variety program. But it can be a little confusing.
Not only are both the variety show and the drama about the variety show are running at same time. Actor Cha Tae Hyun appears on both the drama and the variety show. Cha plays the show's producer on the drama and is a longtime member of the real variety show's cast. Cha has been on the variety show for at least seven years, since the first episode of the second season.
But in real life Cha does not let tough-talking producer Tak Ye Jin, played by Gong Hyo Jin, sleep in his spare bedroom. And Kim Soo Hyun is not a rookie producer in his office. That's the k-drama part.
However, the real variety show is a lot of fun and does feature k-pop and k-drama stars. It won't be IU in next week's star line-up, since she is playing pop star Cindy on "Producer." But it will be a popular actress that viewers haven't seen much lately.
That actress is Moon Geun Young," last seen in the drama "Goddess of Fire: Jeonji."
The "Girlfriend" episode of "1 Night, 2 Days" will be her first variety show appearance since 2012, when she was a guest on the Show "Running Man."
Moon Geun Young was invited to be on the show by one of the cast members, Kim Joo Hyuk.
In the show's latest episode, six cast members got to invite female friends to join them on an adventure. 'I Night, 2 Days" is a road trip variety show, which takes viewers to new places of interest about every two weeks.
Kim joo Hyuk, who last appeared in the drama "Hur Jun, The Original Story" and who also acts in the film, "The Beauty Inside," invited Moon to share his adventure.
Kim Jong Min invited fellow Koyote member Shinki. Kim Joon Ho invited comedienne Kim Sook, Defconn invited Minah from Girl's Day and singer Jung Joon Young asked singer and actress Lee Jung Hyun. Cha Tae Hyun invited actress Park Bo Young.
The six girl-boy teams traveled to a theme park.
The "Girlfriend" episode with Moon Geun Young will air in June. If you've never seen the variety show before you may want to catch a few episodes and compare it to the drama.
