The wait is over for PlayStation fans since after five years since its initial release, "Super Meat Boy" is finally coming to Sony's PlayStation 4 (PS4) and PlayStation (PS) Vita.

According to a PlayStation blog post, the developer, Team Meat was not allowed to bring "Super Meat Boy" to PS3 for some arduous reasons. However, Team Meat hated the fact that they had to estrange the loyal PlayStation fans who so desperately wanted the game but couldn't have it.

PlayStation fans had to suffer for a very long time without the greatest platformer ever made by Team Meat's designers Tommy Refenes and Edmund McMillen, but the developers were helpless as their hand were tied.

After walking a backbreaking path, a lot of hard work, a little convincing and a stroke of luck, the developers were finally able to bring "Super Meat Boy" to PS4 and PlayStation Vita. But that's not all, fans who have waited so long for the game will get it for free as a confirmed PS Plus title as an additional bonus.

"That's our way of saying 'Thank you for waiting patiently' to all those PlayStation fans that reached out to us over the years only to get back a 'we can't do it, sorry' response," the developers noted on their blog.

In an announcement, Team Meat said, "We know this has been a long time coming but better late than never."

"Expect to be playing 'Super Meat Boy' on your PlayStation 4's and PlayStation Vitas later this year," Team Meat added.

"Super Meat Boy" is a simple game where players need to control a cube-shaped, red in color character called "Meat Boy." The objective of the game is rescue "Bandage Girl," Meat Boy's girlfriend, Tech Times noted.

The game has very fine controls and players need exact timing as Meat Boy jumps and runs through a slew of more than 300 difficult levels that encompass many obstacles. Moreover, players can download additional levels created by players for free.

For now, the game is not associated with a release date, however it is expected to arrive fall this year.
