'Scandal' Season 5 Spoilers: Rowan Pope Out Of Prison? Shonda Rhimes Kills Off Character?

“Scandal” season 5 spoilers revealed that Rowan Pope (Joe Morton) will find a way to get out of prison in the coming episodes. The actor hinted that it would be easy for his character to break out of his cell if he wanted to.

In an interview with Deadline, Joe Morton revealed that viewers have not seen the end of his character Rowan Pope. In the season 4 finale, Olivia (Kerry Washington) sent her father to prison for extortion and embezzlement during his time as the Command and head of B613.

The Emmy-award winner, however, said that he had no clue on what will happen next in season 5. He shared that all of the cast members were eagerly waiting for the table read to find out what Shonda Rhimes had in store for them.

"Shonda doesn't let us know until we actually sit down at a table read. So, we really don't know. There's no kind of, 'here's what we're going to be doing next season' kind of thing," he told Deadline.

When asked if he thought Morton will be getting out of jail soon, he said that viewers could easily assume that, given his character. He, however, pointed out that Rhimes may have other plans.

"On the surface, it looks like given who Rowan / Eli is, to be in jail for extortion or for embezzlement seems like something that might be easy for him to get out of, but we'll see. Who knows what will come out of the mind of Shonda Rhimes."

The actor then proceeded to give praises to the "Scandal" writer, saying that he admires her courage to take risks when it comes to storylines.

"She's an amazing writer, and to help craft the kinds of monologues and the kinds of stories that she puts together-it's very courageous. Working with her is a real honor. It's a real treat," he added.
